Fierce hope in the face of devastating loss: Ahli Hospital’s Lifesaving Mission in Gaza

In the last week alone, the crisis has intensified. Medical teams are working beyond exhaustion, performing life-saving treatments and surgeries around the clock. The numbers are staggering. Since the war began, more than 85,000 people have received care at Ahli, and more continue to arrive every day, seeking care. The operating theater runs 17 hours a day, performing over 450 surgeries each month, often with outdated equipment held together by determination and ingenuity.
Ahli is now the sole hospital in northern Gaza with active ICU beds — just three beds to serve an entire region. The burn unit treats 150 patients daily, while over 600 outpatients seek care each day. The hospital’s only CT scanner runs 24/7, performing more than 100 scans daily. Dr. Maher, Ahli’s medical director, fears the inevitable breakdown of vital equipment, knowing there are no replacement parts or new machines in sight.
As an increasing number of locals with life-threatening injuries come to Ahli each day, the need only grows.
Through it all, Ahli continues to stand, thanks to the support of donors like you.
